Use the samples to get an idea regarding what a personal statement should be like. This kind of personal statement can be used for college, university, and school applications. You can modify the statement according to your needs, and circumstances. But please make sure that universities stamp statements taken from internet as plagiarized material. This is just to give you an idea now how to write the statement. This is one of the ideal formats of personal statements.
This is a personal statement of a student that got accepted in a very prestigious university, hence view it as a guide, and DO NOT copy it as it is.
Growing up in a family of doctors, and engineers, I was always intrigued by the science subjects, and
from a very
early age, I knew that I would be foraying into this realm. My father being a doctor, and my elder
brother an
electrical engineer, I spent my days with growing fascination as I watched them excel in their
respective
fields, and hoped to do, if not more, then at least as much as they do. Now, when I am standing at the
crossroads of one of the most important decisions of my life, I see LUMS as a guiding light providing
the best
opportunities for an exemplary undergraduate experience, in Pakistan, whilst training its students at
international standards.
I’ve always taken a keen interest in the modernization of medicine, and
the ever
growing use of technology in it to improve its precision, and accuracy. Recently, the application of
Artificial
Intelligence in Medicine is reaching a milestone by its latest development in lung cancer detection with
90%
success rate. Moreover, the integration of Machine Learning into Biology has been a major breakthrough
in the
world of Medicine. Such revolutionary findings, brought about by the beautiful amalgamation of biology,
and
mathematics, has my heart set upon following a career which does not only focus on making unimaginable
discoveries but, on a larger scale, thrives to make the world a better place. Despite the strides in
technological advances for the rest of the world, Pakistan is being drastically left in the dust. The
increasing
technological gap has led me to believe that we are in need of competent people qualified in this field,
to
abridge it, and increase the standard of all our lives, doctors like my father, and patients alike.
My
academic background serves as a prerequisite for this program as I am currently studying Biology,
Mathematics,
and Advanced Mathematics in my A-Levels. Studying Advanced Mathematics has instilled a passion in me for
Probability studies, which is a major part of Artificial Intelligence. Not only do I enjoy studying it,
but I am
astounded by its integral uses in AI, and subsequently, in Computational Biology.
I have also
worked with
my father in one of his projects that aimed to treat hepatitis patients from a remote area outside
Lahore.
During that time, I often contemplated how technological advances in medicine could save the lives of
many
deprived people of Pakistan if the facilities are timely provided.(Please detail this project, and
expand in a
separate paragraph. Additions of life experiences, hardships overcome, and in general meaningful
projects will
be essential improvements in the main body of this statement).
My endeavors outside the class have
also
helped shaped my personality. While I’ve gained valuable cooperation, and teamwork skills as our
school’s
English magazine co-editor(do add any personal experiences, problems overcome, or other relevant
contributory
information during this position), writing has been a vital tool for me to voice my intellectual angst.
My
childhood love for reading has added to my writing proficiency as my taste has evolved from reading Enid
Blyton,
and Rowling to Jane Austen, and Thomas Hardy.
The enriching environment at ___ (mention university
name) is
an ideal fit to pursue the undergraduate degree in _ for its challenging curriculum, and
flexibility in
opting for courses from multiple disciplines such as Biology, and Computer Science. I firmly believe
that a
unique concentration on academics along with social life will make four years here deeply invigorating.
(In the personal statement you can also mention personal experiences ,therefore do not hesitate to be a little personal/emotional while writing a college essay)
AS MENTIONED ABOVE, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS PERSONAL STATEMENT AS THIS MAY LEAD TO REJECTION DUE TO PLAGIARISM
